Loving Your Lady Parts as a Path to Success

Standard

joyFriday afternoon everyone around me was looking forward to the three day weekend. I was coming down with a cold. Instead of cookouts, live music, and warm sunshine by the pool I spent three days on the couch blowing my nose and catching up on computer work.

This included watching many Ted talks and serendipitously coming across a lady who is now one of my new heroines, Alisa Vitti.

This video was perfect timing. It is all about how aligning our “lady parts” as she calls them will inevitably and naturally help align the rest of our lives.

(and, no she’s not talking about our junk, she’s talking about our internal system that makes us creators – uterus, ovaries, hormones, etc…)

This is eye opening information that every woman should be taught from a young age.  Click the link below to change your perspective and possibly your life. Enjoy!

Does Your Business Squeeze The Joy Out of Your Passion?

Standard

handling-too-much-work

I love my career….and sometimes I want to bang my head against my desk while saying “why did I have to start my own business – I just want a regular job and weekends off!!”

This morning I was grateful to wake up and see this very appropriate article in Christine Kane’s e-zine and I wanted to share it with you.

Seth Godin once wrote: “In order to monetize your work, you’ll probably corrupt it, taking out the magic in search of dollars…”

In other words, when you choose to follow your passion, and make it into your business, there will be a point when the magic and heart will take a back seat to commerce.

It’s enough to stop you in your tracks, isn’t it?

It almost stopped me way back when I was contemplating going full time as a performer and songwriter.  The “business vs passion” thoughts raced through my head at top speed when I was first debating that leap.

These same thoughts worry many people I meet who are just beginning their businesses.

The deeper truth is that until you decide to do something, all the deliberating in the world means nothing.  Your business, as it turns out, is a lot like marriage.  You’re entering into a relationship with something – be it music, consulting, marketing or coaching.

When you enter a relationship with something, you are almost certainly going to love it sometimes, hate it sometimes, obsess sometimes, and want to take a one-way flight to Anything-But-This sometimes.

This is what most people would call “taking the joy” out of it.

How To Imagine Your Way to Wealth

Standard

I am a strong believer in utilizing visioning to create what you want in your life. I have done this and I KNOW it works. Those of you who know me, know I am pretty damn good at manifesting.

Sometimes I create a vision board. Sometimes I write affirmative notes and put  them in places in my house where I can see them every day. Sometimes I take 2 minutes to imagine I already have something that I want – this is what I want to share with you today.

For many of us these days, what we want is money.  And, you know what? That’s okay. It’s not only okay, it’s great!

It is your right to live abundantly and it is your task to create your own abundance.

The key to moving energy in this direction is to envision you already have it then take action to get it.

Do you want more money in your life?

Try this fun and quick technique to get your brain switched from lack to lush.

  • Close your eyes and hold your hands in front of you as if you are holding a big bowl.
  • Begin imaging gold coins dropping into your hands. Feel the coins. Hear the clink clink clink of them. Feel the weight of the coins as they begin to fill up your open hands falling faster and faster.
  • Imagine seeing them falling – glistening in the light – turning over and over in the air and finally landing in your receiving hands until the gold coins begin overflowing.
  • When your hands are nice and full, throw your hands up into the air and shower yourself in abundance.
  • Make this exercise more fun by doing it with a friend – take turns guiding each other through this visioning practice.

I promise you will have a smile on your face when you are done and that, my friend, is the first step to opening the door to abundance.I’m smiling just thinking about it.

Happy Visioning!

Michael Beckwith on the Status Quo

Standard

Without the Reverend Michael Beckwith,  I would probably not be writing this blog or creating art for a living. He is the first person I ever heard use the word “blisscipline” and was the spark that helped me ignite this new phase of my life.

I was thinking this morning about how I got where I am right now and how freaking scary it was (and sometimes still is) to jump out of my safety net. It is no wonder that most people stay “stuck” in their current  life situation because they falsely believe it’s safe. This belief comes from the idea, that  if what we are doing comes with a steady paycheck and is reflective of the status quo then it is safe – our bills will be paid, our 401K will be secure and there is surely a place in Florida for us to retire nicely at the ripe age of 65.

Here’s a little secret…we are not here to strengthen the status quo, we are here to move mountains. We are here to share our talents and gifts with humanity because this is what creates evolution – emotional, spiritual, global, personal. And…we do not have to give up abundance to do it. In fact, when we are following our bliss there is no limit to what we can create.

I think Michael Beckwith says it best in this video  – “Everyone is here to find their little way to stretch the mind of humanity…you may be the person who creates a movement.”

Yes you can do what you love AND make money – no shit.

Me with one of my commissioned murals for a restaurant in South Carolina.

Twelve years ago I was a freelance artist but my business skills were crap and I had no confidence. What I did have was a 5-year-old boy who needed to be fed, everyday. So, I put down my brushes and picked up the want ads. A few years and a few jobs later I found myself in the position of Vice President of a Public Relations firm.

Then, twelve months ago, I had a melt down.  My authentic self ( who had been buried deep inside for 12 years! ) said “NO MORE! LET ME OUT OF HERE!” – I popped.  Long story short, I decided to enroll in a self guided program, recommended by a friend, that literally changed my life. I figured out what I wanted and got clear on how to get there. I left the job I hated and started my own art and creative interiors business – the right way this time. (Senn City Studio – website coming, I promise!)

I AM doing what I love with success, finally! And the best part is I am making a good living doing it.  I want you to know it is possible to follow and live your bliss.

Christine Kane, one of my mentors, who created the program I did last year, is providing a free conference  call coming up on  March 1st where she is going to share specific steps to gaining success even when times seem uncertain. I’m proof that her programs work and if you know me and my story, then you know it’s true.

A Round of Applause Please!

Standard

If you’re not sure what you want in the new year, then commit to getting clear. This sounds simple, but can be a bit challenging, especially if you are feeling down about last year or last month. Maybe you’re feeling down about life in general? So, step one to getting clear, is giving yourself a pat on the back. For what? For everything you have done in your life that you are proud of.

Giving yourself some much-needed applause allows you to acknowledge and celebrate you. To be clear, I am not talking about just the BIG things like getting a huge promotion, making the dean’s list in college 3 years in a row, becoming Ms. Arizona etc… (although those are all valid and should definitely be on the list). I am also talking about accomplishments like riding a bike for the first time, doing an act of kindness for someone that made you feel really good, getting out of bed this morning even though you felt really depressed, or making a friend laugh when they were down. It’s all about giving yourself a pat on the back for everything you are proud of.

The exercise is so simple. I promise you will love it! You are going to get out a piece of paper and write a list of the 100 things you have done in your life you are proud of. WHAT!!?? 100??!!! Yep, that is the goal, though the first time I did this exercise I only got to about 30, but I just kept adding to it. You’ll be surprised at the happy thoughts you bring up about yourself. If 100 intimidates you, then just set a timer for 20 minutes and write as many as you can think of. Then, put the list by your bed or in another handy place and keep adding to it as you remember all the awesome and amazing things you have done.

Bringing in the light, dissipates the dark and allows you to clear, giving you the ability to manifest what you want in your life.  In the days and weeks to come, I’ll be sharing with you tips and exercises on getting clear.

Have fun and remember…Live BIG!

What’s Your Word of The Year?

Standard

I want this year to be the best year ever, not just for myself, but for you too!

Last January during a women’s workshop I was introduced to the idea of selecting a “word of the year”.  At the time, it seemed so simple. I didn’t have  faith  it would have much impact on anything in my life. I was wrong;  surprisingly (wonderfully) wrong. Picking my word last year (truth) had such a powerful impact on my life, it actually set me on a completely different path.  I believe my intentions for selecting this word, created situations in my life that forced me to deal with what was true to me and in turn helped me get very clear about the life I wanted to begin living.

One of my mentors, Christine Kane, was kind enough to create this cool video explaining the power of picking a word of the year.  She even includes a “word of the year discovery tool” to help you select your word of the year with clarity and intention. I hope you get as much out of this practice as I continue to.

Enjoy and Happiest of New Years to You!
